Southland Weimaraner Club Specialty and 2020 & 2021 WCA Futurities and Maturities – May 14, 2021
SWC held its 2021 Specialty and the 2020 and 2021 WCA Futurities and Maturities on May 14, 2021 in Moorpark, CA. Due to pandemic complexities, the club was unable to partner with an all-breed club and decided to hold an independent event. A big thank you to our show chair, Rachel Aguilar, and secretary Louise Brady for stellar work finding the lovely Arroyo Vista Community Park. It was a spacious site everyone seemed to enjoy and the weather was perfect.
Putting on our own event meant that set up included everything from parking management to setting up the hospitality areas and the show rings. A huge shout out to the following members who rolled up their sleeves, came early, and stayed late to help with set up and tear down: Rachel Aguilar, Mandy Barrack, Louise Brady, Lou and Linda D’Alessandro, Gina Grissom, Walt Freshour, Bob and Vickie Margolis, Mary McElwee, Sue McMahan, Linda Millstone, Keith Pautz, Jo-Ann and Brad Rosenberg, and Dona Tanaka. In addition to helping out, many of these members somehow managed to show their own dogs!
As a special note, this year’s show was dedicated to Joan Valdez. Thank you to Vickie Margolis for setting up the touching tribute to Joan so exhibitors could share memories of Joan’s love of Weimaraners. Joan left a remarkable legacy and her influence in the breed will live on in our dogs.
