Joan Valdez Celebration
It was a beautiful day in Rolling Hills, CA at John and Maureen Duffy’s home as her family and friends all came together on Sunday, May 23 to celebrate the legacy of a mother, grandmother, friend, and mentor. Joan was a special lady who never stopped learning and passing along her knowledge of the Weimaraner breed to those who wanted to learn more. Joan didn’t want a memorial service so we had a party to celebrate her. Glasses were raised, memories re-visited, and tears of laughter and sadness were shared by all of us who knew, loved, and respected Joan. Some of these friendly faces we hadn’t seen in many years and it was wonderful to be together again. We all had a connection no matter how long ago it was made, and that connection was our Weimaraners, and Joan. Every table had a mix of family, old friends, and new friends. We enjoyed Joan’s favorite foods and beverages, lots of photos, and were even blessed by a couple of gray puppies romping around the party. — Vickie Margolis
